Berty Skuber was born in Bolzano, where she spent the first 18 years of her life. From an early age, she lived and breathed art. Her father, the South Tyrolean Hans Kompatscher, was already an outstanding artistic figure of his generation. She was drawn to the cultural circles of Italy’s cultural capitals (Milan, Rome, Venice) and beyond from the beginning; immersing herself in the world of art and culture in international centers such as New York and France. A world to which she devoted herself entirely, together with her husband, Henry A. Martin, art critic and professor at Bocconi University in Milan.
Berty Skuber’s works have been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Europe and the United States and are represented in museums as well as in private and public collections around the world.
We remember Berty from when we visited her in Völser Aicha (Völs am Schlern), surrounded by the art and culture that had accompanied her throughout her life. We will continue to remember Berty at the Sparerhof, where her works fill many rooms with their expressiveness and personality.
Goodbye Berty!
